I believe the phrase "stimulus package" is code word for: paying back political supporters... AHEM!

As Boehner (Pronounced Baner... don't ask me.) said on C-SPAN, "Tell me how spending $50 million is to help some salt marsh mouse in San Francisco is going to help some struggling Auto worker in Ohio."

Don't get me wrong, I agree that SOME gov't spending is necessary to keep infrastructure & systems moving. But how much of the bill will be used to improve roads, communications & processes in this country?

I am all for supporting our president in prayer & not being the negative nancies that the dem's were for the last 8 years. I want Obama to succeed. I'm proud that our nation has hired him to do the job, even if he didn't get my vote. I don't believe supporting our new president means we must or should agree with every spending legislation posted by the dems.

This post was brought to you by the word: reezrp.Pete Goodehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03960622827231055584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5724595763985149011.post-19652148957883295152009-02-14T23:11:00.000-05:002009-02-14T23:11:00.000-05:00Disclaimer: I don't really know what I'm talking ...Disclaimer: I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I have a thought based on things I have heard that I'm not sure I fully understand.

I would add to your list that people who do have money (i.e. business owners) should try to do what they can to help those who do not have money (by giving them jobs). However, I don't think that the government should step in as a Robin Hood figure. The people need to do it of their own accord. The problem is that many of them are unwilling to risk losing money in the end; it seems safer from their end to trim the fat (laying people off) and to wait to see what the economy does. I could understand the government giving "stimulus" money to businesses to lessen the risks of hiring more people. I could see some kind of agreement where the business have to hire so many people to be able to get so much money. But, from what I understand (which is, admittedly, very little), I don't think that's what is happening here. It sounds like the stimulus package will generate more government jobs and maybe some at large companies but will not necessarily help struggling smaller businesses. Is that correct? Could you please explain what exactly the stimulus package purports to do? Even Obama has said that he knows the thing isn't perfect. I just wish I understood better what the point of it is if it isn't helping small to mid-size companies. (But, maybe it is; I don't know.)beksterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15724637942561747185noreply@blogger.com
